Marielle Hall, senior from Haddonfield Memorial High School, New Jersey has been a good Cross Country runner since the 2007 season with a time of 18.21.
Indoors 2008, she ran a 5.28 (SB) in the 1600m. She then went outdoor and ran a 2.16.55 (SB) at the NJ State meet. In the 2008 cross country season she had some injuries and was inconsistent. In November of 2008 she started working with Coach Derek Thompson in Philadelphia, he modified her training program to more strength base including hill work, mile repeats, two mile loops at steady pace and two a day work out two times a week some thing she had never done before. Her racing schedule was also cut to select meets.
Marielle came back stronger and at the NSIC in the New York Armory she ran a 2.15.13 (SB) indoor she continued with the new training program. Outdoor at the NJSIAA Sectionals she ran a 2.12.44 went to NJ groups and ran a 2.09.89 then a week later at the New Jersey Meet of Champions she ran her best time of the season 2.07.33 (PR).
She was qualified to run in the USATF Trials in Ypsilanti, Michigan where she made the USA team for World Youth Championship which was held in Bressanone, Italy, where she ran a 2.08.94 to cap off a great 2008 season.
Marielle started well for the 2009 Cross Country season with a 17.46 in October at the South Jersey Open invitational. She won her sectional in a time of 17.52 then a week later ran a 19.18 which was off her best time of the season. The weather may have been a factors, but we will see what happens this Saturday, November 21, for the State Cross Country Meet at Holmdel.
Look for her indoors and outdoors she is I think is a better runner there. Chelsea Ley will be the favorite to win the State meet also Megan Venables should be a strong challenge just to name a few.
